Hi

As asked by a member the types of fishing most popular in Australia.

Firstly saltwater fishing offshore for species such as yellow fin tuna, barracuda, cobia, giant trevally Snapper.

Live bait and trolling lures as Halco, Rapala are popular

Beach fishing using rods between 12 & 15 feet long with either spinning or sidecast reels with the most popular type being a Australian made reel called Alvey, We fish along the beach in channels of deep water using beachworms, pippies or pilchard bits with a paternoster rig
Species targeted are Salmon, flathead, whiting , bream , Tailor, Jewfish on full moon .

Rock Fishing off sea platforms but this type of fishing is very dangerous with many fisherman drowned when washed into the sea from huge waves, species targeted drummer, blackfish , Salmon, kingfish, bream , For bait we use Abalone gut, chicken , weed for Blackfish.

Big Game fishing is mainly at Queensland for Blue marlin and sailfish but although popular only a select number of people can participate in this type of fishing as the tackle and charter boats can be expensive unless a group charters a boat

Estuary and Freshwater fishing is very popular from shore using spinning reels and the bait is dependent on the species , most common fish being Bream, flathead, Perch ( Bass ) Barramundi , Mangrove Jack.

Kind Regards

Davo

Hi Mr. Davo

Thank you for your information and welcome among us.

Will I like to know that what're the baits for the Bream that you used to fish along the beach ? As well as your rigs. And if you were able to draw them, that will be welcome.

Moreover, for the Perch in Australia's rivers, and the Barramundi, which lures that you used most often, and you used the live baits, too ?

We will like to know that someone fished the Carp et Pike in your country. And these, exists they on your premise ?

Best regards

Hi

We use Beachworms, Pippies, or frozen Pilchards similar to Sardines off the beach with a Paternoster rig .

I will be in Hanoi in 4 weeks so I can bring a large rig and knot book with me thats has about 50 pages of various rigs plus knots that covers most fishing .

For Barramundi the most popular Lure is from Halco ( crazy Deep diver ) a very large Australian manufacturer also Manns and Gold Bombers are good

For perch we use spinners , crickets , grubs and soft artificial baits mainly on light rigs

Carp are in Australia but considered a pest and are caught for use as fertilizer they may be a different species than in Vietnam.

Kind Regards

Thanks,

Ngo Van Hiep
